Book Fair is Oct 10-18
Dear Parents and Families,
A Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Reuther Middle School Media Center from October 10-18. Students will visit the fair with their language arts class but may also shop during lunch period and for a short time after school each day. It’s a great opportunity for students to find books that really interest them. We know kids read more books when they get to choose their own. The more kids read, the more their reading skills improve. I’m inviting you to be a part of our Book Fair Family Event. It’s taking place during Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 10 & 16 in the main gym. You can shop for books for your entire family! If for some reason you can’t make it or you want to continue shopping from an expanded selection, you can now visit the Fair online – https://www.scholastic.com/bf/reuthermiddleschool2 The Online Book Fair:
All in-school and online Book Fair purchases benefit our school. Thank you for helping to get more kids reading. |
AIA Book Orders
Reuther Middle School is pleased to host New York Times bestselling author, Watt Key, during the week of April 20th, 2020. Mr. Key has been invited to the Rochester community by the Authors In April organization. This is made possible through the financial assistance of the Reuther PTSA. Students will have the opportunity to read a novel and participate in a discussion with Mr. Key. For your convenience, we have extended our registration sale pricing and are continuing to sell the books through Oct. 19, 2018. If purchased through this pre-order, your student will receive his/her book in language arts in the spring prior to the AIA unit.

As you can certainly see, the Auburn Road Corridor Construction project is in full swing! This project will continue through September and October. Please exercise extra caution when dropping off and picking up students. Student Safety--arrival & Dismissal

The busiest times of the day are Student Arrival & Dismissal. When students are racing to and from the bus and parents are lined up in the loop, it is important for us all to observe the following guidelines:
- Please do not walk in between the buses. This is extremely dangerous.
- Please do not walk or cross through the bus loop by going into the road during this time.
- Please use the sidewalks between the parking lot, drop off loop and building entrances.
- Please use the parent loop in the front or rear of the building for student drop off. Please do not drop off or pick up your student in the front parking lot--this is very dangerous!
As the weather changes and the mornings become darker, please be extra careful to look out for our students who are walking and riding their bikes to school. While we are fortunate to have upgrades at the intersections of Auburn/Culbertson and Culbertson/Marlowe, it is still so important for those of us dropping off or picking up students to be mindful of those students who are walking!
Student safety is always our priority!
Please join us in keeping all of our students safe!
Hungry in the morning?
Just a quick note to remind everyone that Breakfast is available in the cafeteria every morning between 7:00-7:30am!

Anyone can report tips about student safety, criminal activities or potential harm directed at students, school employees, or schools.

Many Reuther students walk and ride their bikes to school. Please be cautious when driving near our school and yield to them...It's the Law! When you exit the Reuther pick up and drop off onto Culbertson and wait at the light to turn left onto Westbound Auburn Rd...you MUST YIELD to the students crossing at that crosswalk over Auburn. They have the walk sign when you get the green light, and the traffic rule is the driver MUST yield to the pedestrians. Our school liaison officer will be patrolling to help enforce this and keep our kids safe.
Click here for Mayor Barnett's Back to School Safety Message
Please keep these rules in the forefront...As a driver, you must yield:
- To a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
- To a pedestrian in the crosswalk, even if your traffic light is green.
- To children near or in a school zone crosswalk when school is in session-- Be especially cautious as children may unexpectedly dart out into the street.
- To pedestrians with disabilities, including physical, hearing and visual disabilities.
- When turning at any intersection. This includes all turns, whether or not there are lights or traffic control devices present.
- When stopping at an intersection with a stop sign or a flashing red light.
- At an intersection with a flashing yellow light
- To a pedestrian in an unmarked crosswalk on the driver’s side of the roadway when no traffic control devices are present.
- To a pedestrian who enters a crosswalk before the signal has changed.
- To a pedestrian crossing the street from an alley, driveway, building or private road.
